Certified Backflow Testing in Hampton Roads
If your property has an irrigation system, a boiler, geothermal heating, or certain other connections to the public water supply, Virginia requires an annual test of the backflow prevention device protecting that connection. Commercial properties typically need a reduced pressure zone (RPZ) assembly tested annually as well, and fire sprinkler systems require their own separate RPZ. Missing your test can mean a notice of violation and fines from your city.
Planet Plumbing's technicians are certified backflow testers. We handle the test itself and file the paperwork with your city's water utility, so you're not stuck tracking down forms or deadlines yourself.
Each city in Hampton Roads administers its own backflow program under Virginia Department of Health waterworks standards, and the exact notification and reporting process varies by locality — Norfolk, for example, mails a test form before your device is due and requires the completed form submitted back to the Department of Utilities. We handle that submission for you.
